| A 1960 classic cabinet with the infamous Celestion greenback speakers.
In the earliest days of Marshall Amplification the Guvメnor was approached by an influential and now iconic guitarist, starting their journey through music the 1960 guitar cabinet became and remains the industry standard for those looking for the best in the business.
The story of the 1960 was that the guitarist wanted to be louder than everything else on the stage and Marshalls founding father Jim Marshall obliged with the requested 8 x 12inch speaker cabinet, warning that the weight and size of cabinet might be a little problematic.
After a short spell on the road and after complaints from those who had to move the cabinets around Jimメs simple solution was to take the cabinets back and cut the unit in to 2 parts, a base and top section. On this day the Stack was born, and the image of a guitar amplifier head on top of an angled and base cabinet is cemented in the minds of guitarists across the world.
The 1960 vintage cabinet is a variant of this iconic speaker unit with speakers designed to offer a different flavour of tone.
The 1960AX is loaded with G12M Greenback speakers providing sought-after tone.
This version exhibits all the classic G12M characteristics but is voiced with additional broad mid-range attack and restrained top-end to give a forward, punchy attitude to chords and a searing lead tone. |
